Stager of the Month – Anita Abramson, Nestings Home Staging & Design

I am Anita Abramson, a Certified UltimateStager™ & ReDesigner. I had a successful career as a fashion print and runway model, working in Canada, the U.S.A., France, Italy, Japan, Germany, England and Spain. It exposed me to fashion and design influences from all around the world.

My passion for interior decorating caused me to be sought out by family and friends to advise on various home projects. It became clear to me that there was a serious need for homestaging when I sold my own homes over the years and staged them prior to listing and viewings. My success at maximizing our sale prices caused the real estate agents involved to suggest that I undertake this work on a professional basis. I aim for the “wow” factor that causes quicker sales and higher sales prices.

1. How long have you been in the staging industry and how did you grow your business into what it is today?

Nestings Home Staging & Design has been in business for 2 ½ years.  It became clear to me that there was a serious need for homestaging when I sold my own homes over the years and staged them prior to listing and viewings. My success at maximizing our sale prices caused the real estate agents involved to suggest that I undertake this work on a professional basis.

2. You offer a wide range of services, is there a specific one that stands out?
There isn’t one part of my services that I love more then the other.  I LOVE what I do and am always telling my kids DO WHAT YOU LOVE!!!
 3. What is your favorite part of working in the home staging industry?
I love helping agents/ homeowners transform their property, and always strive to go above and beyond their expectations.  I along with my team enjoy the process of seeing the property, brainstorming ideas  (as every property has its challenges),  sourcing and then transforming the space.  The satisfaction when seeing the finished product always leaves us satisfied and is solidified when the agent/ homeowner sees the finished product for the first time and is blown away by the transformation.
4. What should a real estate agent or homeowner look for when hiring a stager?
What exactly they are bringing to the table – please don’t always go with the lowest bid.  You get what you pay for sometimes.  There is so much time and behind the scenes effort that goes into each job, it shouldn’t always be about the price.  Trust is important – I have over the years built wonderful relationships with the agents that I work with and there is an understanding and respect from both sides which is so important.  I enjoy working with people that have the same mindset as me with respect to going above and beyond with their customer service.

5. What is your favorite go to piece to work with at Lux?
That is such a tough question!!!  Julie has such an amazing eye and is always buying such great new pieces.  My new favourites are the Cobblestone rug, Destiny coffee tables, and Luxor console.  Lux has great artwork that just finishes up my projects and brings it all together. Lux has great statement pieces that can elevate any room.
6. What’s the number one mistake homeowners make when trying to do their own home staging work?
I think the number one mistake homeowners make is not editing enough.  Sometimes a pair of fresh eyes sees the property better and can see the problems more then the homeowner.  Less is always more.  Edit, Edit, Edit.  I am not a fan of storing excess furniture and boxes in garages or basements, it needs to be out of sight.

7. What is the best advice you can give a new stager who has just entered the industry?
Be patient, it doesn’t happen overnight.  Build your relationships with your clients by great customer service and people will see you out.   Treat everyone with kindness and respect.

8. What do you like most about working on design projects?

I love the whole design process of seeing the space and then transforming it.  The best feeling is when it is completed and you do a walk through  and you know you “Nailed It”.

Thank you Anita for renting with us and answering our questions!

We look forward to your upcoming stagings 🙂
